Team Kilt put together one heck of a Shade series read-along marathon a few years back and we’re put all their hard work to good use again. During the month of June, a bunch of us are going to read (or re-read) Shade, Shift, Shine, Bridge, and Shattered together. This isn’t a formal event by any means, just a bunch of fans that miss the Shade world. Hope you’ll join us! Created by Judy G.   Here’s a suggested reading schedule to keep you on track to complete the entire series during the month of June.  You certainly don’t have to follow this, but we’ll share a special post about each section on the days listed on […]

A book that is very near and dear to my heart hit shelves earlier this month and I have FAILED as a blogger in getting my billion cotton candy review posted up. *le sigh*  Soon.   In the meantime, I wanted to spread the word about how freaking awesome this book is. (Yes, you can use that quote.  It’s quite fancy, yeah?)  So check out the blurb, watch the trailer, read the first chapter, buy the book and enter to win another copy to share with your closest friend.  Not necessarily in that order.  Just do them.   Check out the reviews Smith-Ready’s first YA contemporary novel is getting:   [A] smart, well-rounded, and unpredictable tale…bringing to light issues of belief versus free […]

We are happy to be participating in the “TOP 10 of 2013 A week of looking back… and looking forward” feature, hosted by Mindy @ Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, Rachel @ Fiktshun & Jaime @ Two Chicks on Books.   Top Ten Book Boyfriends of 2013   As a collector of book boyfriends, this is the toughest “Top 10” post for me to write. I’d like to just post a link to ALL the books I’ve read this year because chances are really good that I fell in like/love with at least one boy (and a girl or two) from every book on that list. Alas, the rules don’t allow for that. DISCLAIMER: I’d like to apologize […]

We are happy to be participating in the “TOP 10 of 2013 A week of looking back… and looking forward” feature, hosted by Mindy @ Magical Urban Fantasy Reads, Rachel @ Fiktshun & Jaime @ Two Chicks on Books. We’re kicking off the week by discussing a favorite topic of late: TOP 10 Books Read in 2013   I was silly enough to believe that this would be an easy list to put together this year.  There were some books that were so freaking good that I couldn’t fall sleep for days without thinking back on them.  I just didn’t realize there were about 20 of those books. Man, it’s tough being a book nerd, huh? […]

Candy Box Confession: Books and Music

Candy Box Confession: Books and Music

I’m envious of those that can read and listen to music at the same time. I think my brain uses the same brain cell to process music and stories, thus making it unpossible for me. I tried it once. I spent 15 minutes re-reading the same three sentence paragraph to the beat of “Shake that Ass” by Eminem. It was…awkward. However. I LOVE to go search out author created playlists after I’ve read the book. It’s almost like reading the book again and really solidifies the emotional connection I’ve made with a story.  I have found two of my favorite bands EVER from author playlists: MUSE (thank you, Stephenie Meyer) and FRIGHTENED RABBIT (thank you, Jeri Smith-Ready). […]

Waiting on Wednesday: SHATTERED by Jeri Smith-Ready

At Fictitious Delicious, this week’s most-anticipated read is… Shattered by  Jeri Smith-Ready Expected Release Date: November 2013 If you don’t know about my borderline obsessive love for Zachary Moore, I’d like to say, “Welcome to our blog” because surely you’re a first time visitor. 😉 There are things that happen to Zachary in SHINE that we readers just can’t know through Aura’s point of view. This novella is going to show us just what Zachary had to endure while he was…away. Hopefully, there’s a good dose of loving to balance out the heartbreak of his story and recovery afterwards because we DO know that he’s had a rough time at it. Oh, my sweet, sweet love.  Jeri Smith-Ready […]
