Candy Box Confession: The Inability to Say Goodbye

Candy Box Confession: The Inability to Say Goodbye

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE to reflect on the books I’ve read throughout the year when we start rolling into December territory. One of the things that really struck me this year is the number of series that I haven’t yet finished, even though THEY are finished. What’s up with that?  And I’m not talking about your everyday, run of the mill kind of series. No. I’m talking about series that I love and anxiously waited to hit my local bookstore.  Books that I cancelled social engagements for just so I could read them.  So, why didn’t I see them through to the end?  That question is easily answered. I hate saying goodbye. But […]

2013 Reading Rewind: Week Three

Welcome to week three of the 2013 Reading Rewind. My name is Jen and I DID NOT epically fail at week two. Nikki and I spent the week sending texts to each other swooning over those beautifully amazing Fisher boys. No matter if you’re team Jere or Conrad, the Summer series by Jenny Han is made of pure awesome.  I seriously wanted to start reading them AGAIN when I finished book three. Unlike week one, THIS series is holding through the test of time for me.  I’m on the verge of finishing up SUCH A RUSH tonight since I couldn’t finish by Sunday. Silly life getting in the way, yadda yadda yadda. I just have to finish it, though. At 150 pages in, I’m having […]

2013 Reading Rewind: Week Two

Welcome to week two of the 2013 Reading Rewind. My name is Jen and I epically failed at week one. As a reminder, week one was all about the Twilight series.  I only made it through New Moon. *hangs head in shame*  Truth be told, I had the time to read, I….just…..didn’t.  Now comes the part where I wonder why.  Part of me felt guilty.  I have all these wonderful books that are sitting on my shelf that I haven’t yet read and I want to get to them so bad. Part of me just didn’t feel like it.  The drive to devour these books and neglect everything else in my life wasn’t there like it was the first time I picked […]

2013 Reading Rewind

For the second year in a row, my friend Nikki and I are using the month of December to re-read some of our favorite books.  Last year we read The Black Dagger Brotherhood series for the fourth time together. While it’s always fun to go back to Caldwell, NY, the best part about reading this series last year was the giggling and swooning we did. As a group.  See, we have friends that learned about our intentions and joined us and turned our re-read into a party! It was one of my favorite reading events of the year. (We still have a “secret” Facebook group in which we post completely appropriate content and pictures.) This year, Nikki and I […]
