Unless this is the first time you’ve visited Fictitious Delicious, you probably already know about my mad love for one Lia Riley. Her Off the Map series is one of my favorite New Adult romances ever.  Today we’re celebrating the fact that SIDESWIPED, book two in the aforementioned series of awesomeness, is in paperback!  And if you think THAT is exciting…wh-ha-well, have we got a treat for you.  You’re getting my fangirl review, an excerpt and TEN chances to win your very own copy of the story that nearly killed me. (In the best possible way, I promise!)          An hour later I’m zipping the back of Talia’s wet suit at the edge […]

Book Review: GIRL UNDERWATER by Claire Kells

Book Review: GIRL UNDERWATER by Claire Kells

I’m going to go ahead and admit this right up front: something felt off on this book. I spent a fair amount of the time either confused or questioning the timing around how certain events were possible.  This book is told in flashback scenes and it worked well for me. I followed the flow between the characters time while stranded in the Colorado wilderness and the present day perfectly well. It was the present day timeline that left me scratching my head. I can often blow off something that feels inconsistent, but my reading enjoyment of this story suffered from my timeline confusion. Except for that piece, I freaking LOVED this story.  It’s one of those that I read […]

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Excuse all the exclamation points, but today is a very important day! My BBF is celebrating the paperback release of her debut novel, EVERY UGLY WORD. You may recall that I’m madly in love with this book.  It made my list of best books of 2013 back when it was a wee infant.  See, Aimee self-published her book (then titled BREAKABLE) and was later picked up a little publisher you may have heard of–Alloy Entertainment. Yes. THAT Alloy Entertainment. She’s had a smashing success with Ashley’s story and I cannot wait to hold a physical copy of this beautiful story in my hands. I invite you to take advantage of an EXCLUSIVE  and LIMITED TIME offer […]

Book Review: THE WITCH HUNTER by Virginia Boecker

Book Review: THE WITCH HUNTER by Virginia Boecker

Posted June 8, 2015 by jenniferstrand in book review / 2 Comments

Sometimes I have to think about a book for a while before I can sit down and write a review for it. Not the case for THE WITCH HUNTER. I finished this book half a second ago, knew exactly what I wanted to say about it and put off dinner for 20 minutes so I could open up Blogger and tell you why I think you should pick it up pretty dang soon. I love fantasy stories. While I’ve been reading a lot of contemporary lately, I try to always be listening to a fantasy book on audio if I’m not physically reading one. I listen to them the same way I read them, sloowly. There […]

Book Review: THE DEVIL YOU KNOW by Trish Doller

Book Review: THE DEVIL YOU KNOW by Trish Doller

Posted June 1, 2015 by jenniferstrand in book review / 2 Comments

This book made last years list of top ten books I was looking forward to in 2015 and I am so happy to report that it was for good reason! I expect a Doller book to introduce me to characters that will crawl into my brain and take up residence for a good, long while. While the characters in THE DEVIL YOU KNOW are strong and in one particular case, downright dangerous, it’s the setting that is going to be what I fondly remember when I think back on this story. The descriptions of the camping experiences are so rich that I could practically smell the rivers and the campfires while reading.  I felt like I was peeking […]
