Book Blast: SURVIVING ICE by K.A. Tucker

Book Blast: SURVIVING ICE by K.A. Tucker

It’s here! It’s here!  SURVIVING ICE by K.A. Tucker is now available where all very fine books are sold!  Tucker became an auto-buy author when she glamoured me with her Ten Tiny Breaths series and her Burying Water series has proved to be as freaking awesome!   A soft meow catches my ear. The resident tabby cat—a whore who hops from one villa to the next, sharing her affections without discrimination—struts across the thick balcony wall to me, her tail curling in the air as she approaches. I stroke the soft patch of fur beneath her chin and listen to her purr while I begin to mentally prepare myself for my return to California. It’s been […]

Book Review: ANOTHER DAY by David Levithan

Book Review: ANOTHER DAY by David Levithan

Like so many people out there, I loved EVERY DAY. I consider it one of my favorite books of all time.  When I heard that we were getting A’s story from Rhiannon’s point of view, I was nervous. With few exceptions, I dislike when an author writes the same story from another character’s point of view.  I can seriously only think of one time that kind of thing worked for me.  And this wasn’t it. The story lost most of it’s magic for me reading it through Rhiannon’s eyes. That being said, there was a bit of magic her perspective brought to the table, but all in all it wasn’t enough to make up for the […]

Book Review: INTO MY ARMS by Lia Riley

Book Review: INTO MY ARMS by Lia Riley

I’m not sure if I was more excited to read this book to learn more about Z or his million dollar fish.  Turns out Z is waaay more interesting than the fish. Thank goodness! We get to meet Z earlier in the Off the Map series and I gotta tell you,  I kinda pictured him as a cartoon character. He’s this mysterious guy that works at the tippity top of the tallest building in Whoville, er, Santa Cruz-ish area and we’ve seen him just enough to have this vague understanding of his phobia of touch.  I wasn’t sure if he was the equivalent of the Road Runner or Wile E. Coyote, but I thought he might have […]

Book Event: NIGHTFALL by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski

Book Event: NIGHTFALL by Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski

When the invite for dinner with Jake Halpern and Peter Kujawinski to celebrate the release of NIGHTFALL came in the mail, I immediately felt nervous. For two reasons. First, if you’ve heard anything at all about this story, you know that it is scary. And I’m basically the mayor of Scaredycatville.  I’d have to read this scary story before dinner so that I had something to talk about with these guys.  Which brings me to my second reason for feeling nervous. Have you seen Jake and Peter’s professional backgrounds? Jake’s a rockstar journalist for some of the biggest media outlets in America and Peter is a former U.S diplomat. Talk about an impressive career path! I’m a very silly […]

Book Review: NOT AFTER EVERYTHING by Michelle Levy

Book Review: NOT AFTER EVERYTHING by Michelle Levy

If you’re looking for a feel good, fluffy read that will make you giggle like you’ve had too much cotton candy at the state fair, this is not the book for you.  This story is tough. It takes on the issue of suicide and even more explicitly, child abuse.  It’s chilling. It will beg to be put down and processed after certain scenes. It’s amazing. Let me be clear. If scenes of abuse to both children and animals are too much for you to read, you should probably skip this story. It’s pretty graphic.  And shocking. Yet, hopeful.  Tyler’s life is not pretty and Michelle Levy doesn’t poo-poo around that fact.  You get to not only see […]

Welcome to our stop on the BREAKING TACKLES blog tour! My love for Erin Brown is well documented and I’m so excited to share my long rambling review of her newest story in the Taking Flight series. I’m not really sure how to review this book, you guys. Truth be told, it deserves more than my normal gushing review of how HOTT the hero was and how I’m crushing on the heroine. (Actually, now that I mention it. Adam is HOTT and I freaking adore Courtney, so…) No, this one needs me to put on my serious storytelling hat and share a story with you to properly convey how important this book is. This book starts of light and […]

Welcome to our stop on the DELAYED PENALTY blog tour!  We’re so glad you’re here.  We’re excited to share our review and an excerpt that contains one of my favorite scenes from this contemporary romance. “I hope you don’t think you’re going to sit on your butt your whole break,” Grandpa said. He punctuated his sentence with a quick snap of his newspaper. He’d done it to lift a falling corner, but he may as well have cracked an invisible whip. “Come on, Dedushka,” I said, stopping my arm midair and lifting my tired eyes from the milk dripping off the spoon to his customary stern face. “I just got home yesterday.” “And you start your job today.” […]
